Hot & Cold Glass

The artist and dichroic glassDale has attended Pilchuck International Glass school to broaden his knowledge in glass. The methods used are laminated, slump cast which is done in an oven, and sand cast.

Dale uses art glass which was born through new technology. It works on the principal of a prism splitting light. The glass has at least two colors in each piece, a metallic mirror color and a primary color. The glass affords many varied effects transforming an entire rooms’ walls and ceiling with reflected color well beyond the boundaries of the image. Refer to the Lizard, shown to the right, as an example. The technique Dale uses on the cast glass pieces he borrowed from his work in bronze, make a clay model and then a mold. The combination of both creates a significant effect.
